Lansing Eastern's boys soccer team won its first league championship Tuesday, Sept. 22, routing St. Johns 8-0 to clinch the CAAC Red title.

Senior forward Tresor Ebuela scored five of the Quakers' eight goals in the victory. The performance capped a four-year arc for Ebuela, who arrived at Eastern as a freshman on a team that went 2-14.

"This really feels really great to have this big of an impact on the program," Ebuela told WLNS after the game.

The win completed Eastern's CAAC Red slate at 4-0-1, an undefeated league campaign that clinched the program's first division title. According to MaxPreps, the Quakers' overall record stands at 11-3-3 with a .735 winning percentage.

Eastern has been one of the area's most productive offenses this fall. The Quakers have scored 52 goals and allowed 33 across 17 games. They own a 5-1-2 record at home and a 6-2-1 mark on the road.

The title caps a rapid turnaround under head coach Luke Kane. Now in his third year leading the program, Kane guided Eastern to an 11-4-3 record last season. This year the Quakers matched that win total with games still on the schedule and added a league championship to the program's resume.

Kane told WLNS he did not expect the program to reach this milestone so quickly, crediting his players' work over the past three years.

Four years ago, Eastern won just two games all season. The sophomore year brought four wins. By last fall, the Quakers were competitive. Now they own the CAAC Red.

Eastern returns to action Thursday, Sept. 24, at Lansing Catholic. The Quakers then travel to Waverly on Thursday, Oct. 1.
