A two-time state soccer champion, a volleyball standout turned head coach, a 44-year coaching veteran and a relay team that won one of the tightest meets in Michigan history will enter the East Lansing High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Thursday, Aug. 27.

Heather (Brooks) Stanley, DeJuan Jones, Charles Pollard and the 1998 Class A state championship boys track and field team make up the 2026 class, according to the Lansing State Journal. The induction ceremony will take place at halftime of East Lansing's season-opening football game against Midland.

Stanley: from all-state player to Trojans coach

Stanley, a 2006 East Lansing graduate, earned all-state honors in volleyball and was a Miss Volleyball finalist. She helped the Trojans reach the state quarterfinals as a senior in 2005, then played at the University of North Carolina before competing professionally overseas. She returned to East Lansing and coaches the varsity volleyball program.

Jones: Mr. Soccer to MLS and the U.S. National Team

Jones graduated in 2015 after three years on varsity soccer. He helped East Lansing win back-to-back state titles in 2013 and 2014 and became the first player from Greater Lansing to win the Mr. Soccer award. He played at Michigan State, joined Major League Soccer and has represented the United States National Team.

Pollard: four decades on the track

Pollard has coached girls track and field at East Lansing since 1982. He guided the Trojans to a state championship in 2009.

1998 boys track team: a half-point margin

The 1998 squad edged Rockford by half a point, 39.5 to 39, in what the Lansing State Journal called one of the closest state meets in MHSAA history. Shaka Dhladla won the 110 hurdles and the 1,600 relay team placed first.

The four inductees will be honored in front of the home crowd when East Lansing opens its football season against Midland on Thursday, Aug. 27.
